Bennett's Custom Wood Furniture is a small company based in the heart of Hudson, Florida, and crafts high-quality furniture using solid hardwood since 1988.

Our furniture is designed and constructed with the intent to last generations, and it’s our desire that each piece will become a family heirloom.

For our wood furniture and cabinets, we specialize in using Domestic ¾” Red Oak and ¾” B2 Maple, ¾” Cherry, ¾” Poplar paint grade Hardwoods, Plywood Veneers in addition to Walnut and Ash. If you prefer another species of wood, we can accommodate your special request.

We craft our pieces in Traditional, Misson / Shaker, Modern Siena, and Contemporary Savona styles. In addition to these lines, we can also do Shiplap. Consider using Shiplap or Beadboard on an accent wall behind a TV or Fireplace for example. It is a great way to add texture and some more interest to a space.

Our lines can match any taste. We offer more than ten standard finishes as well as custom matches to add the finishing touch of shine and beauty.

Joe Bennett Fine Florida Woodcraft was started in 1988 in a small garage in Hudson, FL. The business has since grown into a larger shop where passionate furniture makers work with both traditional hand tools and modern-day machinery to create beautiful heirloom furniture.  We operate with a deep commitment to our craft and to the clients we're blessed to work for.

We currently offer just Custom furniture designed for your own space, we also have pieces in our showroom that are for sale created by Mr. Bennett, or we can build custom furniture to fit your needs exactly. Each piece is crafted from start to finish in our shop and bears the "B" signature once completed.

Custom Orders

How It Works

We take inquiries for both residential and commercial projects, and enjoy the process of creating furniture for individuals, architects, interior designers, or institutions. The process of commissioning a custom piece of furniture starts with an initial consultation. This could be a quick email exchange, a visit to the shop or showroom, or a phone call. This discussion focuses on the bigger details; what type of furniture, wood species, finishes, dimensions, and the design. Generally, from this consultation, we can generate a price range for the commission. If this price range works with the client’s budget, we ask for a verbal commitment to the project.

The next step is finalizing the design and cost of the project. Once approved, we ask for a 60% deposit to place the project on the shop calendar. The client will be provided with 2D shop drawings with all specific measurements and details of every part of the project before the project begins. Before the products get painted or stained, we will provide a sample for the client to approve and then the last part of the process will take place.

The shop typically carries around an 8-to-12-weeks backlog.

Once we start your project, we welcome our clients to follow along on our social media platforms or even better drop by the shop to check up on the process and see your custom furniture being made.

And Mr. Bennett sends pictures every week of the progress of the project to keep you updated on the process and progress.
